Should poor refugees from war-torn countries be allowed into the United States?

Personally, I feel that they shouldn't be allowed into the U.S. because as a nation we have a hard time taking care of our own people. Why would we allow others to come into our country who we can't help because we're trying to take care of those already here. It's not that I have a problem with them, it's that I want them to have the best opportunities.

    But where else would they have opportunities like the ones we're so privileged to have here? America is still supposed to be a place of opportunity and freedom. What if this is the best they can get?

    I agree that we can't really afford it though. Our economy is so topsy-turvy right now that we really can't afford more. But wouldn't they be able to help if they came here? Once they got settled, why wouldn't they be able to help the situation?

    I kind of agree and disagree about this. I understand where you're coming from, but they are still people who deserve a home and opportunities because they were forced from where they lived. They deserve the opportunities, but just not the same ones that true American citizens should get.

    I understand that they deserve opportunity, but at the same time are we really going to be able to give them the best. We need to focus on cleaning up everything going on here. I'm not saying they can't come or i don't want them to but i fell it will just hurt us more.
